Global Learning
My name is Rachel Whitbeck. I am currently
pursuing a master's degree in sustainable development
management in Kleve, Germany, at Rhine-Waal University.
I majored in International Business and Management with minors
in Italian and Spanish at the University of South Carolina where I
earned my bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I studied
abroad at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, Spain, during the spring semester of 2017 and have family from Cuba and Portugal. I am very passionate about traveling, so I am connecting my international and global-related experiences to my education at the University of South Carolina.
I'm from Charleston, South Carolina, where my parents live now; my mom is a realtor and my dad is an electrical engineer, and both are USC alumni. My younger sister also attends USC; she graduated in with a degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a master's in social work there. She has traveled a lot of the world with me and loves adventures as much as I do.
I decided to attend the University of South Carolina first, because it was a good distance from home, second, because it has the best international business program in the country, and third, because I grew up knowing
about it. It's familiar to me, which is why I put importance on pushing
myself out of my comfort zone during my four years there. I've
studied abroad, been an executive member of three campus
organizations, double majored and double minored.
After graduation in May 2018, I moved to
Charleston to gain work experience
at our Town Hall before moving
to Germany.
